On 24/25 April industry experts and OEMs will meet in Munich for the 8th "Global Automotive Lightweight Materials Summit 2019" (GALM Summit). It will feature the latest OEM-led case studies and innovative solutions from material and technology providers focusing on the key role played by lightweight design on the road to the cars of the future. A major goal is to achieve a revolution of mobility and to boost electric and hybrid vehicles. Lightweight design can help to save fuel, maintenance costs and CO2 emissions. It extends the mobility range of electric or hybrid vehicles. Reducing weight and applying multi-material design is one of the biggest challenges for the automotive industry. On day one of GALM Summit at 2 p.m., EconCore’s Chief Operating Officer, Tomasz Czarnecki, will talk about in-line integrated production technologies for thermoplastic honeycomb panels EconCore has developed to support automotive manufacturers. He will show how weight reduction and cost savings can be achieved at the same time: EconCore’s Lightweight materials produced with the patented “ThermHex-Technology” are already standard components in the Maserati Ghibli and the Toyota Prius HV.
